Zeytinada village

... is one of the most beautiful settlements which lie along the southernmost coast of Turkey and is located between two big coastal cities, Antalya and Mersin. The village consists of 8-9 separate settlements with about 1200 inhabitants. The acreage of the village is quite large (some 15 km in length and 10 km/6 miles wide) and 70-80 % of it’s area is covered by forests. The sea can be seen from almost 70% of it’s whole territory. The closest cities to the village are Gazipaşa to the west (20 km/12 miles) and Anamur (60 km/36 miles) and Ermenek to the east (170 km). The climate is typically Mediterranean; the winter is short, rainy and warm and the summer is long, dry and very hot. This climate provides the perfect conditions for farming. The entire banana yield of Turkey is produced in these 200 km/120 miles-long coastal villages. The vast majority of inhabitants make their living from bananas. Of course, the banana is not the only yield they produce. Thanks to the mild climate and the fertile soil, an unimaginably wide range of fruit and vegetable is grown in this heavenly corner of the earth.
